The long-in-development Uncharted movie has suffered another apparent setback. Comingsoon.net reports that Sony Pictures has removed the action-adventure movie from its release calendar. Previously, the film was expected to come to theaters on June 30, 2017.
In late July, it was announced that Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team) would write the script for the Uncharted movie. At the time, he said he was interested in directing it, too, but it's unclear if he has been assigned that role. Carnahan is directing 2018's Bad Boys for Life, but whether or not this has anything to do with the Uncharted film losing its release date remains to be seen.
Whatever the case, despite the release date removal, Carnahan seems optimistic. He teased on Twitter that the film's "action-heavy" opening scene will be "really good."

The Uncharted movie doesn't currently have any actors on board. It does, however, have producers in Charles Roven, Avi Arad, and Alex Gartner, in addition to Sony creative exec Jonathan Kadin's supervision. In 2015, Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North said that fans don't want a movie, "no matter who's the star of it." Do you quite agree with him?
