Development troubles don't get more topsy turvy than the fate that has befallen Homefront: The Revolution, but by hook or by crook, it's making its way to us courtesy of new studio Dambusters and the deep pockets of Deep Silver for publishing duties. Now I know you've probably just had terrible flashbacks of the original Homefront but don't worry, the sequel has nothing to with the now-defunct Kaos Studios and THQ. This is starting afresh.
There's a proper PC FPS feel to proceedings, and it's all been built in the powerful CryEngine. There's a huge open-world Philadelphia to render, along with intense guerilla battling, so make sure your rig is up to scratch with the official Homefront 2 system requirements.
Homefront: The Revolution Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4570T 2.9 GHz or AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz
- RAM: 6 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 1 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 560 Ti or Radeon R7 260X
- HDD: 38GB Available Space
- DX: DirectX 11
Homefront: The Revolution Recommended System Requirements
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7870
As has become the norm, Homefront 2 has a pretty massive installation size, but no surprises there. One stumbling block for some could be the 6GB RAM minimum. I know plenty are still getting by on 4GB, but it's looking increasingly as if 8 GB is the standard accepted minimum for a gaming setup these days.
