Awesome Mafia 3 Concept Art Released

2K's upcoming open-world game, Mafia III, arrives later this year, and while we're still waiting to see more gameplay and screenshots, the developer has now let out a handful of pieces of concept art. In fact, the official Mafia III Twitter account has been sporadically releasing concept art from the 1960s game over the past few months.

On display are Mafia III's varied environments, including the Louisiana bayou and New Orleans city streets, among other places. The images are gorgeous, without doubt but we should also bear in mind that concept art aims to capture a general design concept. As such, the final game may not necessarily look the same. Whatever the case, concept art is fun to look at and Mafia III's is no different. In Mafia III, you play as Lincoln Clay, a mixed-race man who grew up an orphan and later fought in the Vietnam War before finding his way to New Orleans. The game places a lot of emphasis on depicting the racism and prejudice against black people that was present in the deep south in 1968, the year the game takes place. Developer Hangar 13 says the game does not intend to sensationalize racism.
