Halo 5 Developers are Working on Unranked, Social Multiplayer Playlist

Unranked playlists are in the works for the Halo 5: Guardians, according to developer 343 Industries. Unlike former games in the series, there is currently a lack of multiplayer playlists that can be played without affecting player ranking. Instead, casual play is limited to the new objective-based Warzone mode.

Posting on the Team Beyond forums, studio head Josh Holmes replied a post speculating the lack of variety in unranked multiplayer modes was intentional in order to push players into Warzone, where REQ packs are monetised.

"There was no insidious motivation behind going all ranked for Arena," Holmes said. "That was the design intent of the team working on that experience. That said, we've heart the requests and we are actively working towards supporting unranked playlists for Arena in a future update." He continued: "It may seem straightforward on the surface but lighting up unranked play in Arena is not as simple as flipping a switch. TLDR; We hear you, and we are working on it."
