Dark Souls May be Headed For Backwards Compatibility

The very first Dark Souls will be supported by Xbox One's backwards compatibility and be made available for free with digital pre-orders of Dark Souls 3 on Microsoft's consoles. This is according to the Australian Xbox Marketplace. The listing was spotted by Reddit users, but has since been removed. The game's publisher, Bandai Namco, has not yet officially confirmed backwards compatibility support or the pre-order bonus.

Support for From Software's dark-fantasy RPG has been highly sought-after by fans, who will no doubt be keen to utilise the console's in-built streaming functionality. The first two games in the series are incredibly popular among Twitch streamers and both have a healthy multiplayer community.
