Dark Souls 3 System Requirements Revealed

Dark Souls III will be descending on us all come April 12th 2016, delivering a series finale that promises to be excruciatingly difficult and heart-racingly intense. The general gist of Dark Souls 3 is that it's more of the same. Which is no bad thing really, when you consider the Souls series has been kicking out some of the best games in recent memory.

Expect bonfires, screen filling bosses, plenty of cowering behind shields, claustrophobic corridors, and getting dodging down to an art - or else. One of the brand new elements is Weapon Arts, a unique special move for each of Dark Souls 3's many weapons. Enough of that though, it's time to prepare to die, so read on to find out whether you're rig's got what it takes, or if it's going to get struck down at the first hurdle by the official Dark Souls 3 system requirements.

Dark Souls 3 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.1 GHz or AMD A8 3870K 3.6 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 465 or Radeon HD 6870
  • HDD: 50GB available space
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet Connection

Dark Souls 3 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 3.4GHz or AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 or AMD Radeon HD 7850

It's quite refreshing to see such reasonable system requirements for Dark Souls III. It follows in its predecessor's footsteps in this respect, with nearly identical system requirements to last year's Dark Souls II re-release - Scholar of the First Sin. The only change here is that Dark Souls 3 is double the installation size, hopefully signifying higher resolution textures, along with a bump up to 8GB minimum memory required. I'd say that last part is probably hogwash; there aren't a great deal of games that use more than 4GB memory at minimum, and Dark Souls 3 almost certainly isn't one of them.
