Brace Yourselves, The Steam Winter Sale Is Coming Next Week

Oh dear, here we go again. The date for the Steam Winter Sale has leaked, and you’ve got just under a week to save them pennies, farm those trading cards and sell them hats. Traditionally the biggest Steam sale of the year, the Steam Winter Sale 2015 will run from December 22nd right through until early January.

Hopefully it’s a bit more interesting than the Black Friday “Exploration” sale, which became a bit boring after day one with no mini-games, card collecting, flash sales or community votes. At the very least we know Valve is planning a mini-game for the Steam Winter Sale, but word is there’s still not going to be any daily deals or community choice sales. As seems to be the way at the moment, the Steam sale date leaked courtesy of a Paypal advert which is doing the rounds, trying to shift Steam gift cards.
I know there’s plenty of PC gamers out there who get all their game shopping done in one fell swoop when the Steam sale hits. With the new set-up every game is at its deepest discount price straight away, so there’s no waiting around for better deals in flash sales. In one sense it means you don’t have to feel obliged to check Steam every four hours to pick up on the deals, but on the other it’s just not as fun. That, and I get the feeling the discounts won’t be as huge without daily deals.
Any games you’re hoping to see get some massive discounts? How much are you setting aside for the Winter Sale?
