StarCraft II: Legacy Of The Void Off To Unstoppable Launch - 1 Million Copies Sold
Despite talk of the popularity of real-time strategy games waning, Blizzard has announced StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void has shifted more than a million units since its launch on November 10th. Not bad for an expansion pack for a five-year-old game.
That figure is accurate as of Friday evening, and it goes to show Blizzard’s hardcore audience is still alive and well. For comparison's sakes, the original StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty sold through 1.5 million units in its first 48 hours, while first expansion StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm achieved 1.1 million in two days. What makes the figures for Legacy of the Void most impressive is that all this was achieved despite Fallout 4 arriving on the same day and sucking up all the attention. The fans have spoken though, and it seems plenty couldn’t give a Pro-toss if an expansion launches on the same days Fallout 4. First impressions are very positive, with the conclusion to the StarCraft II trilogy packing in a top-tier Protoss campaign and a redesigned multiplayer that ensures it’s faster and more aggressive than ever before.
