Reports Suggest Just Cause 3 Is Suffering Serious Performance Issues On Console

Both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Just Cause 3 are reportedly suffering some horrendous performance issues. Those who have managed to snag copies of the game early are reporting load times of almost 15 minutes on Xbox One, which is absolutely staggering, and frame rate drops as low as 17 FPS on both platforms.

The console editions of Just Cause 3 looks to suffer from some serious memory leak issues, with loading times increasing the longer you play according to reports. It kind of harks back to the PS3 launch of Skyrim, with a wide-ranging list of performance problems hampering the two platforms. Taking 15 minutes to load a saved game is insane. Those who settle in for a long session will find it gets worse and worse as time goes on. On top of this the low frame rate is causing physics oddities, strange AI behaviour, and generally the wrong kind of chaos you want from Just Cause 3. The problem is, the frame rate hitches are of course happening when you’re doing exactly what Just Cause 3 is designed for - blowing stuff up. In terms of the load times, players are reporting the PS4 version, which occasionally takes around 3 minutes to load, can have load times sped up by playing Just Cause 3 offline. On Avalanche’s part,  it seems very strange that it could fire on all cylinders with Mad Max’s optimisation, and then let things slip with a huge sequel like Just Cause 3. It’s pretty much the same engine, albeit with a lot more physics-based destruction going on, which doesn’t really explain the memory leaks and hefty loading times.
