Just Cause 3 Dev Diary Reveals How Its Advanced Havok Destruction Works

There’s something incredibly exhilarating about video game destruction. We’re now just about a week away from its launch, and Avalanche has released a new trailer detailing the procedural elements, which can lead to unpredictable events and unprecedented levels of destruction.

Havok Destruction is the game changer here, with Just Cause 3 one of the first games taking advantage of the new edition. It deals with things breaking apart naturally and procedurally, rather than the usual technique of swapping an object with a pre-rendered damaged object following an explosion. In the video, we can see how this works for the bridges, which are composed of hundreds upon hundreds of unique objects, which can then break apart in a realistic fashion. I’m not concerned with anything else when Just Cause 3 arrives - my main priority is to get my hands on the biggest weapons possible and begin the destruction I've so missed. I haven’t been this keen on blowing everything up since Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction dropped on Xbox a decade ago.
