Konami has announced Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 will be getting UEFA Euro 2016 content next year, and the best bit of all is that it’s going to be totally free.
In a statement issued today, Konami said the content is being delivered for free to all owners of PES 2016 in an effort to “regain gamers trust”, following some missing items in their post-launch Data Packs. These are additional content updates which pack in more stadiums, teams, player likenesses, kits and more. The first of these was supposed to include all of the updated player transfers from the end of the transfer window, but some players are still playing for their old teams.
'It has been a difficult few months for the fans in how we have been delivering content in our recent Data Packs, with some items missing that our consumers expected. The PES Production team appreciate their fans’ support and want to reward their support and bring back confidence in the Data Pack releases. With this announcement, we hope we can regain their trust,” said Erik Bladinieres, football and alliances director.
The next Data Pack for PES 2016 to come from Konami is scheduled for early December, and will include the legendary Maracana stadium, more faces, new national team kits, club teams and the updated player roster. This seems like a decent olive branch from Konami, and it makes a change from the money-grabbing cash-ins we’ve seen come out for recent football tournaments in years gone by. Konami hasn’t announced any details of what the Euro 2016 content will entail, but we should hear plenty more next Spring.
