Dogs in video games make no doubt, one of the best companions ever. Intelligent, strong and vicious, dogs could be the perfect killing machine a game character could ever have. They're loyal and obedient, but are also fierce and take no sh*t from nobody (enemies, i mean). We've seen some dogs in action (in video games, of course) and i'm pretty much sure that we all appreciate the roles they play.
SHADOW (Dead to Rights)
You can't teach an old dog a new trick, can you? Shadow's an old dog (dating back to 2002 when dead to rights was released) and he definitely doesn't need to learn new tricks!! Shadow was found by Jack Slate's father, Frank, chained up in an alley when he was a puppy. Frank managed to bring Shadow back to health and signed him up for K-9. But they failed him out because they thought he would be too "feral" and wanted to put him down. Frank however disagreed and he decided to use Shadow for the 87th Precinct of Grant City and ever since then Shadow has helped Frank and Jack with crimes.
Shadow is a Malamute dog and partner to GCPD officer, Jack Slate. Shadow is extremely loyal to Jack until the very end and will obey any commands his master gives him. While playing as Jack with Shadow by his side, Jack can command Shadow to attack enemies. Shadow can do silent kills from behind, turning the enemy around and ripping out their throats or biting them in the throat, or if you wanna run in and be brave you cant charge in and use his signature kill the scrotality in which he bites a male enemy in the testicles yanks, yanks again, and rips them off then finishes them off with tearing up there throat. He is indeed an effective killer.
CHOP (Grand Theft Auto 5)
Chop is that large Rottweiler dog in Grand Theft Auto V owned by Lamar Davis, but lives with Franklin Clinton for a majority of the storyline. Although nominally Lamar's dog, Franklin agrees to take care of Chop after a mission, and Lamar does not reclaim him when Franklin moves to Vinewood Hills.
He can be taken for walks, and can attack enemies when told to. He occasionally accompanies Franklin on missions. Chop's known to be very loyal to Franklin. When Franklin throws a ball, Chop will run for it. When Franklin approaches him, he'll bark because he wants attention. Chop is probably...a proud dog, who will not ride anywhere except in the front seat and also the dog that attacks Franklin's attackers. With Chop on Franbklin's side, you probably don't stand a chance!
RILEY (call of duty: ghosts)
Riley is a German Shepherd, a military working dog, and a member of a US Special Operations unit: Riley is part of the player's team and works as a friendly character who will help and support the player by "sniffing out explosives and assisting the player against hostiles." Riley’s AI will actively support the player by attacking enemy troops close to the player’s vicinity. He can also take cover to avoid enemy fire, and will try to find alternative flanking routes for attacking the enemy, some of which are not accessible to the player. Riley can also be given command to, during combat, target and dispatch specific enemy soldiers. The attack uses the tactical grenades slot. This is a useful tactic to make enemy soldiers break cover, although Riley will quickly become overwhelmed if the player sends Riley to attack multiple units.
If handled recklessly, Riley can be killed which will trigger a fail-state by the game. Riley will have to recharge after every attack. Riley’s combat vest is outfitted with a local area shortwave camera and a radio, making it possible to send Riley out alone to single-handedly scout enemy territory, spot, attach and sneak past enemy troops. Riley’s vibrating collar makes it possible for the player to control Riley during these sections and guide him past enemies in stealth. He incurred a non-lethal bullet wound to his left thigh in "Sin City", and survived when Logan loaded him into a helicopter at the end of the mission. Although healed, Riley is last seen in the prologue of "All or Nothing".
D-dog (metal gear solid 5)
As a puppy, D-Dog lost the use of his right eye and was presumably an orphan. The puppy was found alone by Venom Snake during a mission in 1984. DD was later taken by Fulton Recovery to Diamond Dogs' Mother Base, his new home. The puppy was present with Ocelot upon Snake's return to Mother Base, licking the latter's face as he picked him up. Ocelot explained that the puppy had been a troublemaker after it had arrived, and that he was unsure of its specific breed. Believing that the pup may be useful in the future, Ocelot intended to train him, comparing him to a diamond in the rough that required some polishing.
Snake agreed, noting the irony of an ocelot raising hounds. After DD had fully grown and been trained for a combat support role, Big Boss had the dog accompany him on his missions, at the suggestion of Ocelot. DD can be commanded to distract nearby soldiers by barking, as well as attack or stun enemies depending on the equipment allocated to him by the player. DD can also be outfitted with Fulton balloons and can extract prisoners and enemies when ordered to, providing the subject is accessible and able to be recovered safely. DD is also capable of detecting nearby medicinal herbs, enemy, and prisoners.
DOGMEAT (fallout 4)
Dogmeat is a German Shepherd found by the Sole Survivor at a Red Rocket station near Sanctuary Hills and can be recruited as a companion. Dogmeat can attack enemies by holding them down or even killing the enemies (raiders, mole rats, rad roaches among others) and can also be sent into buildings to explore for loot as the Sole Survivor does other things. An affectionate and dextrous dog, Dogmeat's skills as a four-legged scavenger and ferocious fighting companion are not lost to his master!
