Xbox Chief Phil Spencer Says He Would Love to See Xbox And Xbox 360 Emulation On PC

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer loves a good tease and he’s at it again during a recent event. When asked on what plans Microsoft has for future backwards compatability, he hinted he’d like to see support in Windows for playing games from Xbox 360 and the original Xbox.

“It is a matter of priority,” said Spencer. “I would love to have the ability to play Xbox 360 on PC at some point too, so we have different things we have to think when we plan these things. But it would be great to also have support for original Xbox games. “So yes, I want to do it, but we have many other things we want to do as well,” he added non-committedly. While this is by no means confirmation of it happening, it’s nice to see Microsoft is at least considering the possibly. From the way Phil Spencer is talking about it seems as if Microsoft would be targeting emulation rather than ports, in a similar manner to how this is already achieved on the Xbox One. When you get down to it the actual list of Xbox 360 exclusives we haven’t got on PC is decidedly small, but I’d love to personally see the Amped series, the original Condemned, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Halo of course, and the remaining Gears of War games. There’s also titles for the original Xbox, such as the oft-forgotten Project Gotham Racing series, Blinx, Phantom Dust and Otogi. Would you be up for Xbox emulation on your PC? Or would you prefer ports that can take advantage of the power of your gaming rig?
