What we Know about Mafia 3

Mafia III is an upcoming open world third-person action-adventure video game developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games, scheduled to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2016. It is the third installment in the Mafia series, and the debut title for Hangar 13. Mafia III was officially announced in July 2015, with the first trailer unveiled on August 5, 2015. The game will take place in 1968 in New Orleans, with the player assuming the role of Lincoln Clay.

Mafia III is played in a third-person perspective, in which players take control of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam War veteran on a quest to seek revenge for his friends, who are murdered by local mobs. The game is set in 1968, New Orleans, with the open world design allowing players to freely explore the game's world. Players can complete objectives using a variety of approaches. For example, players can use the weapons provided in the game, like shotguns and revolvers, to eliminate all the enemies. Alternatively, they can utilize stealth tactics through the entire mission without being noticed by enemies. The core gameplay revolves around gunplay. In addition, players can also perform executing moves and melee-combat. The game also features a cover system, allowing players to take cover behind objects to avoid enemy gunfire. Players can also interrogate non-playable characters after defeating them in order to gain more information on his objectives. Players can attack and overrun locations owned by the Italian mob, and assign one of their lieutenants to operate the location. The available lieutenants are Cassandra, Burke, and Vito Scaletta; Vito was previously featured as the protagonist of Mafia II.
For now, we know Lincoln Clay to be a biracial orphan and Vietnam veteran. As an orphan, he is constantly looking for a family, until he joins the armed forces and fights in the Vietnam War. He returns to New Orleans, after the war and he joins "The Black Mob". After surviving a murder attempt by the Italian Mob, Clay attempts to start his own criminal organization and get revenge. Clay is aided by three allies, which include Cassandra, Burke, and Vito Scaletta. Upon being discharged from the Army, he returned to New Orleans to find that the Italian Mafia had murdered several of his childhood friends. He decides to establish himself as a powerful gangster, both in pursuit of a better life and to exact revenge against the Mafia for killing his friends. He is a fairly serious man who values those he refers to as family. Having grown up in an orphanage, he has never had a conventional family, thus he looks to his close friends as a source of support and love. He clearly despises the Mafia for what they have done to his friends, as evidenced by the way he speaks to a Mafioso he is about to execute; in particular, he feels their concept of a family based solely on blood ties and surnames is a mockery of what a family is supposed to be. He is the first mixed race, non-Italian protagonist in the series.

Mafia III is the first game in the Mafia series to have a non-white protagonist. It is also the first game in the Mafia Series to be set in a real city. More updates about Mafia 3 will be posted to this blog. Are you excited for its release? Let us know in the comments below.
