As surely as Tatooine has three moons, it was stunning obviously EA would announce a Season Pass for Star Wars Battlefront. It’s a trap, Admiral Ackbar would warn us, and he’s probably right. As you’d expect from a DICE season pass, it’s not going to be cheap either.
The Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass runs for $50, and that will net you access to four planned DLC packs. The eagle-eyed among you may note the previous Premium Passes have stretched to five expansions but this has been trimmed back to four; both for Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield Hardline.
"Expand your galaxy with the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass," reads the blurb. "Get 4 upcoming expansion packs filled with new content, two-week early access to each expansion and an exclusive “Shoot First” emote. Stay tuned for more details on Season Pass in the coming weeks." Each DLC pack will no doubt come with additional maps, weapons and vehicles to mess around with. I’d expect DICE to theme the packs, so look out for a Force Awakens pack around the launch of the new movie in late December. I’d love to tell you precisely what you’ll get for your cash but unfortunately I can’t. This is more a case of blindly handing over the fifty bucks and hoping you get something decent at the end of it, if you dare. So the $50 Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass can be picked up individually from the Origin store, alongside the $60 digital copy of the game. If $110 for a single game isn’t quite enough for you, EA is also selling the Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition for $140. This comes with the Season Pass bundled in, as well as weapon unlocks and an exclusive Victory emote.
By now most of you have probably had time to have a crack at Star Wars Battlefront so you already know whether you’re going to pick it up. I have to say the sheer number of season passes is getting out of hand by now but it’s sort of to be expected from a multiplayer title like this. That said, paying out this sort of cash without even knowing what you’re getting for it seems a bit risky. I’d be more inclined to pay out for individual packs or pick up the Season Pass when the first content pack launches.
