Speaking during a panel at New York Comic Con, Dugas said “console ports on PC are disrespectful”. This man Dugas sounds like our kind of guy. Of course it’s not the console games appearing on PC that’s the problem, but the way in which they are pushed over without any additional features that could take advantage of the power and versatility of gaming PCs. Dugas believes it’s “super important that the PC version is treated as such,” with extra features added that console versions do not feature. This includes high-resolution assets, DirectX 12 support and other graphics technologies such as GameWorks and TressFX. As such we can expect the PC edition of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to get the red carpet treatment, which is fantastic news for PC gamers. Dugas went on to tease a big week coming soon for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, where we can expect news of its DirectX 12 support and its impact on performance, as well as the use of the fantastic looking Dawn Engine. Dugas and Eidos Montreal are certainly ticking all the right boxes here. Deus Ex is a PC franchise first and foremost and it’s important the game isn’t compromised for the console experience. That said, fingers crossed DirectX 12 isn’t the minimum requirement for Mankind Divided, or there are going to plenty of gamers sans-Windows 10 locked out.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Director Says Console Ports On PC Are Disrespectful
Dodgy ports are a hot topic amongst PC gamers. I mean, we’re being treated to more console ports than ever before, which is great, but is that enough to excuse ports being slapped together and thrown out the door without a thought? Not so says Eidos Montreal’s executive game director Jean-Francois Dugas, who’s working on the PC version of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
