Rise of the Tomb Raider Reportedly Drops Traditional Multiplayer

A recent report claimed that Crystal Dynamics had "cut" a multiplayer mode from upcoming action-adventure game, Rise of the Tomb Raider. But now, Microsoft has stated that the Xbox One and Xbox 360 timed-exclusive may in fact have some form of multiplayer, though details are light at this moment.
"In the coming weeks and months, stay tuned for more info on all things Rise of the Tomb Raider," a Microsoft representative told VideoGamer. "Including how players will be able to extend their single-player campaign and compete with their friends."

The 2013 Tomb Raider reboot included a traditional multiplayer mode that was developed externally by Eidos Montreal. It remains to be seen what form of multiplayer Rise of the Tomb Raider may have. But we'll probably find out relatively soon, as the game launches on November 10 for Xbox One and Xbox 360, with PC and PlayStation versions coming in 2016.
