Bloodborne is an action RPG in which you hunt for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like a disease. Peril, death and madness infest this dark world, and you're tasked with uncovering its darkest secrets which will be necessary for you to survive. Armed with a singular arsenal of weaponry, including guns and saw cleavers, you'll require wits, strategy and reflexes to dispatch the agile and intelligent enemies that guard the city's underbelly. You will utility holy chalices to access an array of vast underground ruins, chock full of traps, beasts, and rewards, to explore and conquer on your own or with other people. Moving away from fantasy and embracing the gothic, Bloodborne is much more overtly horror-influenced than any previous entry in the Souls series.
2 - Until Dawn :
When 8 friends become trapped on a remote mountain getaway gone wrong, things quickly turn sinister and they start to suspect they aren’t alone. Gripped by fear and with tensions in the group running high, you’ll be forced to make snap decisions that could mean life or death for everyone involved. Every choice you make while playing as each of the eight friends – even the seemingly trivial ones – will carve out your own unique story. this game simply gives you the chills!!
3 - Resident Evil : Revelations 2
Resident Evil Revelations 2 follows two interwoven stories of terror across 4 episodes of intense survival horror. Episode One: Penal Colony Kidnapped by a unknown group of assailants, Claire and Moira awake to find themselves trapped on an isolated island infested with horrifying creatures beyond imagination. Now they must desperately struggle to escape the horror.
The Order: 1886 introduces us to a unique vision of Victorian-Era London in which Man uses advanced technology to battle a powerful and ancient enemy. As Galahad, a member of an elite order of Knights, join a centuries-old war against a powerful threat that will determine the course of history in this third-person action-adventure shooter. It might not be very terrifying, but it’s definitely wrapping itself in the stuff horror – werewolves, the occult, the gothic.
5 - Darkwood
You play the lone survivor of some kind of apocalypse, stuck in the deep, dark woods within a dilapidated cabin that serves as your hideout. Chances are good that you'll be slaughtered if you go on any moonlight nature walks, and a mysterious affliction called The Thirst kills you around midnight if you fail to take a drink from a mystic well located just outside your rural headquarters. You explore a creepy forest, obscured by a fog of war, to find provisions that will allow you to survive through the night. Unfortunately, it’s populated by crazies who wish to kill you. Part-RPG, part strategy game, Darkwood excels in creating a sense of uneasiness and dread that totally undermines whatever safety you might derive from its top-down perspective.
6 - Outlast 2
Investigate the inside of Mount Massive Asylum and live to uncover the mystery. In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors await inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, it has been recently re-opened by the research and charity branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation and operates in strict secrecy... until now. Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility and what he discovers treads a terrifying line between science, religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive. Outlast is a true survival horror experience which shows that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind itself. Are you prepared? yes or YES??
7 - H1Z1
The set-up is familiar: a zombie apocalypse has wiped out America, and you must survive by avoiding the undead, contending with other survivors, and scavenging for precious resources. There are no safe houses or safe zones – from the moment you spawn, it’s a relentless fight to survive.
8 - Fatal Frame V
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water consists of 3 interconnected stories that converge to uncover the truth behind a recent group of tragic deaths in a forest marred by a history of suicides. As one of 3 people with the power of the Camera Obscura and the ability to see the shadows of those spirited away, you will explore the ruins of an eerie inn, a shrine filled with life-size dolls, and a lake full of dead priestesses. Each shadowy location is connected by a stream of water flowing throughout the mountain, and this once holy water is tied to the darkest mystery of all—the history of death and darkness on Mt. Hikami.
9 - SOMA
Strange occurrences are disrupting the routines of the PATHOS-2 research facility. The radio is silent. Behavioral anomalies of the machines are increasingly dangerous, if not... malevolent. The facility is devolving into chaos. No weapons, and the only escape is practically unthinkable. From Frictional Games, creators of the Amnesia and Penumbra series, SOMA is an aberrant tale of scientific inquiry and survival; an entropic exploration of synapse and circuit that wades through the delusions of human consciousness.
10 - DOOM
Known simply now as Doom, the latest incarnation of one of the most important, popular, and influential video games just might come out in 2015 (fingers crossed). It feels ages since Doom 3, and so far we’ve seen nothing of the new Doom (the 4’s been dropped) outside of a tight-lipped teaser. But what we want is guns, gore, hulking beasts travelling from various circles of intergalactic hell. That’ll do nicely.
