Hello guys, today, I bring you a friendly comparison between Pro Evolution Soccer 16 by Konami and FIFA 16 by Electronic Arts. I'm not going to be biased during this comparison as i particularly don't have a favorite. Here we go...
The Differences Between PES 16 And FIFA 16 -
When Playstation 2 and the original XBox were the reigning consoles, it was clear that PES was quite better than FIFA as it was applauded by critics and fans alike. However, During the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 reign, FIFA absolutely annihilated PES in sales, fans opinion and critics reception. I would argue that this wasn’t because FIFA was a better game, instead PES just got worse. For the first time in a fair few years, FIFA 16 and PES 2016 offer only incremental improvements to their match engines rather than drastic rebalancing. Both camps has announced full new features details and from the looks of things PES 2016 is coming with more variety of changes both in gameplay and graphic wise while FIFA 16 is more focused on gameplay improvements. PES 16 looks like a real deal this time around with a more fluid gameplay compared to PES 2015.
let's take a look at the new features in FIFA 16 -
- Women's team:- FIFA 16 will have the “women football” for the first time in any soccer simulation video game history. 12 licenced international women teams will be included which can be used to play matches in quick match and custom tournaments. EA has confirmed that players won’t be able to pick men’s team vs women teams.
- Game Mechanics : 25 feature changes has been made in the defensive mechanics of the game, sliding tackles has been improved with length of the tackle can be controlled by the player and ability to stop table midway, get up and keep up with the defender. FIFA 16 gives you the tools to stop your opponent with confidence. Move with greater freedom as a defender - rely on your team to defend as a unit, and your back line to track menacing runs to create balance between attacking and defending. New defensive AI gives players better awareness of dangerous space on the pitch relative to the ball and their opponent. Your teammates will track back to stop sophisticated attacking runs, and close down angles of attack.
- Gameplay : Most of the new features are in terms of gameplay and the best one is ability to dribble with separating the ball from the player “no touch dribbling” lure defender in and explode pass him at a right opportunity. Games are won and lost in the midfield, in FIFA 16, the midfield matters. Stay in possession with patient build-up play or ping clinical passes through space to start an attack.
- New Finishings : few new finishing moves and animation has been added where players will have control over multiple kind of shots to pick in same scenarios. Players can use use the outside of boot or side footed or full blooded strikes will be at players disposal. Crosses now have greater accuracy. Attacking players run onto and attack the ball with intent
- Contextual training: If you press R3 during play, the game brings up a “contextual overlay system” above the player you are controlling, providing a selection of possible moves. If you’re just dribbling the ball in your own half, it’ll probably just suggest short or long passes, together with the relevant button, but once in the opponent’s territory it’ll bring up a range of attacking options. There are several levels of advice to select from, so intermediate and experienced players can get more complex pointers, including tougher skill moves.
- A new Training Mode was also added to Career Mode allowing the player to develop footballers in the team of which they are managing without actually playing them. These are in the form of skill games, a feature added to the series previously. It allows the player to set a specific focus on which the footballer should develop on meaning that he will grow specifically according to the chosen focus attribute. Doing this also increases the transfer value of the player.
Now, let's move on to PES 16's features -
PES' biggest change is the manner in which players physically interact with each other. Last year's offering was sorely lacking in a collision system of any sophistication, which made defensive blocking and tackling unpredictable and unsatisfying. This has clearly been a priority for PES Productions, and the result makes for a much less chaotic playing experience.
- Enhanced Collision System has been introduced in PES 2016 where the situation has a major impact how the outcome of a certain players collision pans out. PES 2016 will also have improved Aerial duals where players can have more control over how the go for a header in 50/50 situations.
- PEs 2016 will have wide range of “1v1 Control” movements which will depend on the skills of the player. The best feature is the fact that the response time has been improved which means players can pull off feint moves and loads of other skill moves with better control. Other usual upgrades in features like Artificial Intelligence, defending has been upgraded. While new IDs has been included for the goalkeepers where different goalkeepers will react differently in same situations.
- Just like in FIFA, PES has including control over players goal celebrations, hense comes Totti taking a selfi with Iphone and some other top notch celebrations. Dynamic Weather has been included finally in the game and there is a great screen released by PES which shows how the pitch will differ before and after the rain.
- New ball physics has been introduce just like in last couple of installments. PES 2016 will have better ball physics and some unpredictable stuff where FIFA lacks. The player faces and animations are super realistic. PES 2016 sports detailed animations and player expressions. Footballers celebrate, mope, and sulk during the course of a match. Looking at the game, you'd find it hard to believe that barring cover player Neymar, no other footballer has had his face scanned for the game. Either way, you can't tell the difference. It's a testament to Konami's technical chops.
- PS4 and PS3 users can now easily import large database edited by major PES communities, which means PS4 and PS3 can download free stuff and make all teams have official kits. It's a feature that's been a mainstay of the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 version, and PC version of the game for the longest time. It's now coming for the PS4 as well, though Bhatti tells NDTV Gadgets that Konami has yet to finalise how it would work.
Let us know your take on the two soccer simulations. which do you prefer? PES 16 or FIFA 16?
