Game Reviews: The Witcher 3

The witcher 3: wild-hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt  is an action/role-playing video game set in an open world environment, developed by Polish video game developer CD project RED. Announced in February 2013,
it was released for windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox one on 19 May 2015. The game is the third in the series, preceded by The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Played in a third-person perspective, players control protagonist Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher who sets out on a long journey through the large land of Northern Kingdoms. Players do battle against the world's many dangers using swords and magic, while interacting with non-player characters and completing side quests and main missions all to progress through the story. Players mostly travel by foot, and also on horseback on Geralt's horse 'Roach'.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is more than "30.0 times larger" than previous Witcher games, requiring players to sail by boat to some locations and ride by horseback to others. However, fast travelling around the areas of known locations is also possible. The Witcher 3 has been described as "20% bigger than Skyrim".Many actions the player performs affect the world; many of the quests have a number of options on how to complete them, and the outcomes differ. CD Projekt RED anticipates approximately 100 hours for the completion of the game, 50 of them belonging to side quests, and 50 belonging to the main story line.

Explore a gigantic open world, slay beasts and decide the fates of whole communities with your actions.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt features a massive open world in which the player can roam mostly freely, depending on which part of the story is being played. The game features several locations such as the Free City of Novigrad, the swamps of Velen, huge Skellige Isles, and two Nilfgaardian Empire's territories: the village of White Orchard and the Royal Castle in Vizima. The witcher school Kaer Morhen, known of the books and the first The Witcher game, also appears. Every location has a large amount of villages, each with their own economic and social conditions.  The open world is very interactive compared to even the best open world games, featuring abandoned villages, caves and haunted forests. Further detail is added to the game with each location and village having different monsters, some which come out at specific times of the day.

Geralt is also something of a sleuth, and a mercenary, and a drifter, and a ladies' man. He wanders into town on horseback with his own agenda and gets reluctantly sucked into local affairs, thwarting evil for a sack of gold, picking at society's scabs and then moving on, leaving a trail of swooning wenches in his wake. He has scars and white hair and speaks in a monotonous macho rasp. He's the archetypal pulp hero - no more than a gruff cartoon, but a pretty appealing one. Wild Hunt gets better when you stray from the narrative mainline. The Witcher contracts available from most of the muddy hamlets and crumbling fortresses you visit follow a fun, compulsive and romantically exciting formula: use Geralt's heightened Witcher senses to track some frightening beast or spectre across the land and learn what you can of it; prepare for the fight by brewing the appropriate potions, explosives and oils; battle what amounts to a free-roaming mini-boss and claim your trophy. The Witcher 3 possess great graphics, quality dialogues (and of course, great sound effects), its battle scenes are absorbing and intense (Combat, much streamlined from the previous games (and much better explained in the tutorial stages), combines strikes, dodges, parries and counters with gadgets and magical attacks), its textures are detailed. The witcher 3 is arguably on of the best role playing games and no matter how much time you put into it, The Witcher 3 always pays back your time with interest and unending fun. It is highly recommended for you.
