Upcoming Game Releases: Halo 5 - Guardians

Halo 5: Guardians is an upcoming first-person shooter video game. Part of the Halo franchise, the game is being developed by 343 Industries and published by Microsoft Studios. Serving as the sequel to Halo 4, the game is scheduled to be released on October 27, 2015, for the Xbox One video game console. It is also the first Halo FPS in the series to be not rated Mature by the ESRB since the first version of Halo: Combat
Evolved.
There is no official details surrounding the plot of Halo 5, 343 Industries have done a great job at keeping the plot a secret.
What we do know so far is that the game is set to involve Master Chief's Journey and that the game will feature a new character called Agent Locke, rumoured to be from the UNSC branch, the Office of Naval Intelligence, shortened to ONI.

Following the events of Halo 4’s ending, it is predicted that the Master Chief is going to be a different character than the one we have come to know. During the campaign, players will be taking over Chief's team, known as Blue Team, which is composed of legendary Spartan II's Kelly-087, Linda-058 and Frederic-104 or Locke's team, Fireteam Osiris, which is made up of high-tech Spartan IV's, including Edward Buck. A player, if playing alone, can issue orders to these AI controlled teammates. Commands including, highlighting and issuing an assault on enemies, picking up certain weapons, controlling turrets and driving vehicles. During online cooperative play, players will take on the role of the Spartan teammates, each with their own unique traits. If a player is downed during battle, teammates can revive them by standing over them and initiating the revive.
In Halo 5: Guardians, Armor Abilities are replaced with Spartan Abilities. Spartan Abilities are distinct from Armor Abilities, in that they are not limited by cooldowns or pickups. Rather, they are base player abilities which can be used by all at any time, similar to Dual Wielding or Boarding. The seven Spartan Abilities are:

Thruster Pack: Similar to Thruster Pack from Halo 4, except now there is movement in any direction.

Ground Pound: While in air, you can slam down into the ground, potentially killing anyone below.

Clamber: If you miss a ledge, you can pull yourself up.

Slide: While sprinting, you can slide.

Charge: While sprinting, you can slam into an enemy.

Sprint: Sprinting like in Halo 4, but after a certain amount of time, you will achieve the perfect velocity to activate the previous two abilities. Sprinting will stop shield recharge.

Smart Scope: A zoom function that applies to all . Each weapon has a different degree of zoom.

Jameson Locke and John-117 will be playable characters in Halo 5: Guardians. The teammates of both Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris will be available for other players to play in co-op campaign. Master Chief – John-117 is now known as Master Chief Special Warfare Operator of the Navy after being promoted during the conclusion of Halo 3. Master Chief is a potent combatant of considerable skill, having severly crippled the forces of the Covenant and the Flood. John never removes his helmet before the player and thus we don’t know what he looks like. The super soldiers of the UNSC are unparalleled human combatants, partly because of their genetic disposition to achieve victory and partly because of the cybernetic enhancements grafted to their bodies by the UNSC. John is the last remaining member of the Spartan 2 commando program and is widely regarded as the best amongst them.
Agent Locke resembles a Spartan soldier and weilds UNSC weaponry. Also, branded onto the chest plate of locke's armour is the logo of the ONI branch of the UNSC.

The confirmed list of weapons in the game.
  • Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) - A mid to long range single shot rifle. Can take out a fully shielded Spartan with 4 shots to the head .
  • BR55 Battle Rifle - A mid to long range 3 shot burst rifle.
  • Shotgun - Close quarters combat weapon.
  • Hydra - A new multi-shot rocket launcher, when using Smart Scope rockets can lock on to enemies.
  • MA5 Series Assault Rifle - A assault rifle that fire off a immediate rifle clip, this time a Smart Scope zoom is now present giving players a much clearer line of sight.

  • Energy Sword - The power weapon makes a return both as a regular weapon and a "legendary weapon" with the name "Prophet's Bane", this is the sword that belongs to The Arbiter.
  • Boltshot - The forerunner pistol equivalent, does not function like in Halo 4. There is no shotgun fire mode, fires two shots at once and sort of tracks players.
  • Incineration Cannon - Returns from Halo 4, players can charge up a shot and the longer you charge, the more powerful it is. Battery based rather than ammo based.
  • Railgun - Returns from Halo 4, works identically, holds 11 shots.
  • Z-130 Suppressor - Forerunner equivalent of the SMG, fires a lot slower than in Halo 4.
  • Needler - The covenant rapid fire weapon, returns with a aim down sights mechanic.
  • Carbine - The mid to long range covenant semi-automatic rifle. Cosmetic change to scoping.
