Android game review: Modern Combat 5 - Blackout

Modern Combat 5: Blackout

Modern combat 5: blackout is a first person shooter game developed by Gameloft (Bucharest) and
published by Gameloft. It was released for android, iOS and windows mobile on july 24, 2014 and is sequel to modern combat 4: zero hour. Though, it is the first game in the series to be "all free to play", without any in-app purchases, Gameloft however had to make it mandatory to be online even When you just want to play through single player missions which I found annoying.

In blackout, you play as Caydan Phoenix, a minor character from modern combat 4: zero hour, who tries to hunt down Saunders . The story is divided into six chapters and each chapter has story missions, spec-ops missions and multiplayer missions. In order to move to the next chapter you have to finish all the story missions and a few spec ops or multiplayer tasks in the current chapter first. The gameplay is not much different from the other games in the series as it still involves the sprinting, crouching, throwing grenades, leaping, picking and changing weapons, aiming, quick time events, mounting turrets and stealthily killing enemies. However, blackout introduced a key feature which gives players the privilege of choosing a soldier class ranging from assault, heavy, sniper, recon and support(each of which has its own different perks and weapons). Weapons have to be unlocked by getting kills with the weapon class. Once they are unlocked, they can be used in both Campaign and Multiplayer (they don't have to be bought, as there is no currency in the game). In multiplayer mode, you can play individually or create a squad for team based multi player. Currently, there are 5 modes: Free For All, Team Death match, VIP, Capture the Flag and Zone Control.

As usual, in any modern combat game, it retained it's high quality graphics, the sounds are just superb and also captivating, beautiful locations (Modern Combat 5 is the first in the series to offer real world, geographically accurate maps) and the brilliant gameplay, shorter missions as they are about 5-7 minutes long, although, the storyline is not too okay. Modern combat 5: blackout is arguably one of the best First person shooter games in the series and in mobile games! It is available for download on the app store, play store and windows mobile stostore. If you are a lover of fps games with great graphics and HD textures, not minding the storyline, this game is recommended for you!
