If you’ve ever dreamt of being a xenocidal maniac then you should either A: Get Help, or B, give Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide a whirl, because you’ll be able to take down the entire Skaven horde by the metric ton. From the Fatshark folks who were behind of the War of the Vikings, it looks like sheer bloodthirsty hack ‘n’ slash joy.
The latest trailer takes a deep dive into what we can expect when it launches this Friday, and it seems to have all sorts of neat tricks up its sleeve. Essentially pitched as Left 4 Dead with the rat-like Skaven replacing the zombie hordes, Vermintide is a four-player first-person co-op adventure set within the Warhammer universe. Each player will operate a different class, loaded with unique melee and long-range weapons and skills, taking on the waves of Skaven which adapt dynamically to the group’s skill level and pacing. Fatshark know a thing or two about wielding ruddy great pieces of steel and they promise in this trailer that no two swings of a blade will feel quite the same. The angle of the strike will affect how your enemies are damaged, so you can precisely dismember them or strike straight through poor, rodent hearts, while the velocity will determine the severity of the impact. Fatshark is pushing out Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide this Friday, October 23rd, on PC although it looks as if you can pre-order and gain access to the first few levels ahead of then if you’re keen.
