Producer Confirms Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Is Coming To PC In December

The third and final part of the Final Fantasy Lighting Trilogy is set to appear on PC this December. Ever since Final Fantasy XIII made it over to PC it was only a matter of time until the rest followed suit, with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII concluding the Fabula Nova Crystallis subseries on PC.

Producer Kitase Yoshinori is the man who spilled the beans, who took to Twitter to let the world know the sequel was in the works. "Kitase P here," he said, "to report the current status of the development of the PC version of FFXIII LR. We are currently putting the finishing touches to the game and it will take a bit more time until it's complete. We should able to release it around December. “I'm terribly sorry for the late release despite saying that the game will be out in Autumn.
We will share more details with you at a later date.” Of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy this is probably the least highly regarded, but if you’ve ploughed 100+ hours into the series already then you no doubt want to see how it all ends. Or you could cut your losses and run, which would probably be my advice. Anyway, it’s set 500 years after Final Fantasy XIII-2 just to make things a little more confusing, with the titular Lightning waking up from hibernation to find the world’s going to end in 13 days.
If it’s anything like the previous two Final Fantasy XIII games on PC then expect to be a fairly basic port. The last two have been unreasonably demanding on hardware considering the age of the console originals, with extremely limited video options. It’s about as good as we’re going to get unfortunately, but hopefully if the trilogy sells well enough Square Enix might finally see fit to announce Final Fantasy XV on PC.
