During an earnings call, AMD CEO Lisa Su talking about the upcoming graphics card family, saying that the next generation of GPUs will offer double the performance per watt in comparison to the Fiji GPUs used in its current range. Right now with both AMD’s Greenland GPUs and Nvidia with Pascal, it feels like we’re teetering on the edge of a serious jump in performance.
“We are also focused on delivering our next generation GPUs in 2016 which is going to improve performance per watt by two times compared to our current offerings, based on design and architectural enhancements as well as advanced FinFET products process technology,” said Su.At the moment it’s still not clear what fabrication process AMD is targeting. Nvidia is working with the 16nm FinFET node will AMD is going to be either 16nm or 14nm FinFET.
