Nintendo Direct streams will return as confirmed by Nintendo. Speaking to IGN at Tokyo Game Show, the company said "Nintendo Directs will continue," but added that it has "no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered." The fate of Nintendo Direct, which was used by the company to deliver updates and announcement on upcoming games, as well as interviews with developers, was called into question following the passing of Satoru Iwata.
As president, Iwata was the driving force behind the Nintendo Direct initiative, presenting the majority of the streams, with appearances from other executives such as Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime and Nintendo of Europe's Satoru Shibata. Nintendo's Direct streams were praised for providing regular updates on on-going project, instead of focusing around specific industry events.
Nintendo announced Tatsumi Kimishima as the new president of Nintendo on September 14. His previous positions have included serving as chief financial officer of the Pokemon Company and director of Nintendo of America. He was also the company's managing director and head of human resources. Kimishima has said he doesn't plan on reforming the course Iwata placed the company on, and will continue Nintendo's efforts to enter the mobile market. According to Kimishima, he has been elected to the position for one year, and is unsure about what will happen beyond this period.
