Fallout 4 Could Be More Successful Than Skyrim, Says Bethesda

Bethesda has said it believes Fallout 4 could be its most successful game release ever.
Speaking to MCV Pete Hines, the company's VP of PR and marketing, discussed how Bethesda feels the game will measure up to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
"I think [Fallout 4] can top Skyrim," he said. "It could be our biggest release ever. But we will see."
Hines admitted that, despite the confidence, it's difficult to predict just how big a success could be.
"it is part of my job to build the megaphone that we hold up to the game, and the game decides just how loud it goes. Just how big it is going to be is hard to say. Skyrim was a massively big deal."
To date, Skyrim has been Bethesda's standout title in both critical and commercial performance. The game sold-through 3.5 million copies during its first 48 hours and, as of January 2014, reached 20 million units.
On August 20, Hines responded to criticism regarding the game's graphics, saying the negative comments "definitely doesn't upset [Bethesda]."

"As with most forms of entertainment, you never get 100 percent agreement on anything," he said. "And so, at the end of the day, whether it's what the graphics look like or whether the gameplay is what you want or whether you like the setting, or whatever it is, everybody is entitled to their opinion."
Fallout 4 launches in November for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Bethesda has also revealed the Fallout Anthology for PC which bundles the first five Fallout games--1, 2, Tactics, 3, and New Vegas--in a mini-nuke.
