Android game review: Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans:
Clash of clans is an online strategy based game developed by Supercell for iOS and Android (can be played on PC via bluestacks). You start as a chief assigned to a village which you're to expand and protect from goblins at first and as you progress, you being to defend it from other players. You start with very little buildings, resources, and few troops. Players can create clans (which can only be joined after building your clan castle) and have clan wars against other clans(players), randomly raid other player's villages for gold, elixir and dark elixir, which can be used to build and upgrade, buildings, defenses and  troops.

Troops in clash of clans include the barbarians, archers, goblins, giants, balloons, wall breakers, wizards, healers, dragons, PEKKA,  minions, hog riders, Valkyries, witches, golems, lava hounds, Archer queen and barbarian king, each with unique attributes and Abilities. There are also various spells that can be created at the spell factories and they include the lightning spell, healing spell, rage spell, jump spell, freeze spell, poison spell, earthquake spell and haste spell. There are a number of buildings available to the player to defend their village, including cannons, mortars, bombs, traps, archer towers, and wizard towers. Players can also build walls, which can be upgraded as they increase in level and also receive troops in the clan castle which can either be used in face offs or defend the player's village. Now, let's take a look at the clans.

A clan is a community of players who join together to support each other, either materially (donating troops) or verbally (giving advice). Players can join clans once they rebuild the dilapidated Clan Castle. A major component of the gameplay of Clash of Clans is clans facing off against one another. Clan leaders and co-leaders can search and start wars against other clans. Each clan is then given one "preparation day" and one "war day." When a player attacks a member of the opposing clan, they receive stars based upon the amount of destruction they cause to the opponent's village. Each player is allowed two attacks per war, and the team with the most stars at the end of the war day (24 real time hours) wins the war, with players receiving bonus war loot if he/she use their attacks in the war and a one more war win record in the clan description. Here are some tips for beginners:

- for town hall 2,3,4 owners,Keep your cannons and archer towers in a line, the cannons don't really matter if they're spread out or not but the archer towers need to be spread out because they have a bigger range and can cover more of the base, put your mortar near the middle/core where it can do the most damage, put your air defense in a spot where it can defend a good portion of your base.

- Always centralize your clan castle because it becomes difficult for the troops to be lured out (in big bases though).

- Be sure to spread your defenses such as the mortars and cannons. Do not place them too far apart or too close. Use the radar (that cirle that surrounds it when you click on it) when placing your defenses, to measure distances.

- Do not make layers with your walls!! Layered walls slow the enemy troops down, yes. But it might interest you to know that wall breakers can cause multiple damage to walls which covers a considerable area. So, why waste those walls?

- Design your base to have multiple compartments using walls, it becomes difficult for enemies get 3 Stars from such base than a base surrounded by walls on the sides.

- During clan wars, always lure out the clan castle troops in your opponent's base because they can always turn the battle results if not lured out.

- Do not rush your base. Always upgrade your troops, defenses and buildings to the highest possible level as this makes you stronger.

- When raiding and you come across a large amount of gold and elixirs, take a critical look at the collectors and mines to determine where the resources are (They could be in the storages too) before deploying your troops.

- Join a clan that communicates well because this really goes a long way. Communication is vital!
