Fallout 4’s only been out for a while and already some intrepid modder has got his wares up on NexusMods. Clearly keen to capitalise on the visual backlash faced by Fallout 4 in some corners of the internet, the Enhanced Wasteland Preset by Razed looks to add an additional layer of vibrance and visual loveliness to the Wasteland.
The mod takes advantage of a few additional features like SMAA changes, gamma and vibrancy gains and dithering to create what the author reckons is a better looking version of Fallout 4 than Bethesda has been working on.
So the first thing to note is the Enhanced Wasteland Mod knocks close to 10% off your frame rate, even when using an MSI GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G. That’s a not inconsiderable amount for what is basically a palette swap. I have to say though, on the evidence of these early areas in Fallout 4 alone, the SweetFX mod does look marginally nicer to me. It’s only very marginally, but it does make Fallout 4 more vibrant.
